Okami

OKAMI wiiiew: Okami (Wii)

Published April 25, 2008 11 st Analysis Comments by Camilo Bogado Okami is a game that unfortunately went unnoticed in the PS2. Although critics have been almost unanimous in pointing out the various qualities of the game, especially its visual, the game sold a misery. Maybe because the game was released during a time where no one spoke of anything else except the Nintendo Wii. And of course, when the game came out a lot of people wondered: why Capcom did not release this game for Nintendo's new videogame? One more bit of history There are two assumptions about this fact: the first is that Capcom was afraid that the hype over the Wii would actually correspond to a sales success. Today we see clearly that yes, but then the vast majority of companies had no courage to embark on frigate. The other reason was the disagreement between the Big N and the fact that Capcom Resident Evil 4, as promised pro Gamecube exclusive, have also gone out for the Playstation 2. They say the bad language that quarrel was the reason of having no character in Capcom's Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Anyway, just when Leo Lobo, Capcom realized the potential of gameplay (and especially sales) to launch the Wii version of RE 4 for the console, with a high degree of success. So if Resident Evil was a success, why not work on the game that was made for Wii, but left by mistake in Play 2?
Not everything is Sakuras ... Well, meanwhile, came out of the Clover Studios and Capcom has changed its name then was assigned to another company adapt Okami for the Wii, Ready at Dawn. And after a few hours of play, I can say that there is good news, but the adaptation was well below expectations. Graphically speaking, there was an improvement over the PS2 version. The main ones are the support 480p resolution and also the image in Widescreen. The game, at the time of the launch left everyone astonished by beautiful artwork, mixing with cel-shading Ukyo-E and strong lines of ink. But today, almost two years of its launch, the look no longer produces the same impact. If you leave the screen completely stopped, will see some smudges on Amaterasu who are well Brochant. The scenarios, though beautiful and spacious, have a restricted visibility. Usually the game camera will show only a few bits to do not take that horrible effect of bump-maping. The sound of the game follows the line of the PS2 version, with no novelty. This time, the downside is pras voices of the characters. A story so incredible and full of dialogues such as Okami deserved a better job than those annoying "Ah-uh-uh-oh-ah", which seem to have left the old opening of the Fantastic. But the soundtrack is excellent, with songs typically eastern, and parts of combat a little more agitated.

Brushing with the Wiimote Speaking at the gameplay, here we have reached the critical point. On the PS2, the game is impeccable in this regard, responding very well to your commands. A major focus of it is that Amaterasu have a celestial brush, which is used to solve various puzzles, besides serving as a weapon in combat. In the PS2 version, the drawings were very accurate, and you rarely wandered the same. Unfortunately, the Wii version can not say the same. The first power that you learn a simple horizontal line used to cut trees and enemies, does not answer more than half of the time. It's frustrating to see a system that would fit perfectly in the concept of the Wii is so poorly adapted, causing frustration to those who play. The avoidance system suffers the same problem. There you have to hold C and move the nunchuk in the direction you want to dodge. But if you can perform the dodge to the right direction once every 100, I will consider a master of the nunchuk. In short, all the commands of the gameplay were very bad, even manual control of the camera is low.

Summary Kabuki Okami had everything to become a new Zelda on Wii. Unfortunately the game has a lot more mistakes than successes, and despite the wonderful storyline, and art direction by dribbling, the rest play the game down, leaving the final average. My advice: rent before buying. Unfortunately there will be everyone who will be able to ignore the many problems to follow the storyline of the game.
